Debbie Vasen is a seasoned communications professional with a rich background in operations, strategy, and people leadership. Currently serving as the Communications and Development Director at Menucha Retreat and Conference Center, she contributes to spearheading fundraising initiatives, orchestrating events and communication strategies, and fostering engagement among stakeholders to drive Menucha's mission of enriching lives through hospitality, learning, reflection, and renewal.
Debbie also proudly serves as a Board Member for Friends of the Multnomah County Library, where her collaborative spirit, commitment to diversity, and passion for libraries contribute to a solid and inclusive board. In this role, she advocates for public libraries, enhances programs through supplementary funding, and engages the community through event planning and marketing.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Business Economics and Sociology from UC Santa Barbara. She also earned an Executive Certification in Women in Leadership from California State University, Chico, where she served as a Women in Leadership Advisory Council Member. Debbie is an active mentor at The Mom Project, contributing to economic empowerment for women in the workforce, has served on the Vision & Values Committee Advisory at Corbett High School, and worked as a Youth Program Manager for Oregon State University Extension 4-H, empowering young people with skills for a lifetime.
In essence, Debbie’s career is a testament to her commitment to excellence, innovation, and a deep understanding of the intersection between business strategy and human connection. Beyond the professional realm, you might find her enjoying life's simple pleasures—digging in the dirt, immersing herself in her favorite tunes, or exploring new hiking trails with her ever-enthusiastic canine companion.
